 Dore Methodist Church holds a weekly service on Sundays at 10.30, and Holy Communion is included in this morning service once a month. All are welcome to join us for any of these services.

After Sunday morning services many people extend the time of fellowship by going through for a coffee in the church hall. Visitors are welcome.

Two Bible Discussion Groups (known as Focus Groups) meet fortnightly. These friendly, supportive and informal meetings are held in the homes of members of the group whenever possible. Contact: Janet Barraclough.

The Women's Fellowship meets at the Church on alternate Mondays at 2.30 p.m.. There is a time of worship, followed by talks on a wide range of subjects. There are also occasional outings. All women are welcome. Joint Presidents: Rosemary Belbin and Margaret Maxfield. Secretary: Jean Harrison.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Church Life

Serving and Sharing

Church activities include a variety of informal meetings and social events.

Crafty Club meets alternate Mondays, 2-4 p.m. It is for those who enjoy making things. Meetings are very informal with knitting, embroidery, cup of tea and chat. Everyone is welcome. Co-ordinator: Mary Jackson.

 

Tuesday Group meets fortnightly at 7.45 p.m. with a varied and interesting programme of speakers. Ladies of all ages are welcome. Co-ordinator: Brenda McDermot.

 

 

 

 

 

Senior Citizens Luncheon Club. A warm welcome awaits elderly people every Wednesday, with coffee and lunch. Co-ordinator: Val Edwards. 

 

  

 

 

Saturday Coffee. Call in for coffee, biscuits and a chat in the Methodist Church Hall, between 10 a.m. and 12noon, when you will receive a very warm welcome. 

 

In addition to these church-based events, the Methodist Church Hall is used by various other local groups.

 

Yoga, for ladies, meets every Monday at 7.30 p.m. Co-ordinator: Carolyn Heslop.  

Dore Mercia Townswomen's Guild, which holds its main meetings at the Church Hall, Townhead Road, has a Social Studies Programme in Dore Methodist Church Hall on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 9.30 a.m. for 10 a.m., and Choir on Tuesdays at 2 p.m. Co-ordinator: Monica Baron.

Dore Probus Club meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month, 10.15 to noon.

Dore Guide Movement

Rainbows (ages 5-7) meet on Thursdays at 6 p.m. Leader: Clare Garner. 

Blackamore Brownies (ages 7-10) meet on Thursdays, 7.10 - 8.15 p.m. Leader: Jane Lowe. 

4Ts (Tea, Talk and Tunes for Toddlers) every Monday morning 10 -11.30 during Term time. Contact: Rosemary Thomas.

Dore Village Society Our local amenity society holds events in the Methodist Hall four times a year.

Victorian Christmas exhibition, December 2011

The theme for the annual exhibition of 2011 was 'The Victorian Christmas'. Contributions were made by church members and local groups, organisations and companies. Here are a few pictures to illustrate the event, beginning with the Brownies:
